SSoS in a Nutshell

Send a Soul to School (SSoS): A Thousand a Semester Movement has primarily been established to financially help a deserving poor to pursue a college or vocational education. This is one way of eradicating poverty from our midst. The movement also provides a holistic approach to both scholars and parents through spiritual and value formations.

The movement’s organization is composed of board of trustees and chapter officers. So far, it has now two chapters: Talibon and Jagna towns of Bohol. A donation of one thousand pesos per semester (P1, ooo. oo/sem) - through pledging - is the main source of funding. The donor automatically becomes a member of the movement. In the selection of scholars, the movement has the exclusive right to determine who will be accepted in the program. Three scholars are currently enrolled in the following schools:UB, HNU, BTC-Talibon.

Helping the poor is an expression of our Christian identily. “Charity,” as Pope Benedict XVI puts it, is “a responsibility of the Church” (Deus Caritas Est, n. 20). Hence, SSoS movement is a response to the Pope’s invitation to organize charity (ibid.). Our Lord Jesus Christ constantly reminds us:

Whatever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, you do it to me (Mt. 25:40).
